 Grading Policy 

Students' total grade in Art is based on:
  • Weekly grades - 50% of grade

  • Tests and assessment grades - 50% of grade

Weekly grades will be based on:

  • Learning, Work, and Safety Skills

  • Miscellaneous assignments

  • Excellence

Test and assessment grades will include:
  • Tests of work and learning skills

  • Tests of specific art skills

  • Tests of specific art knowledge and concepts

  • Portfolio appraisal

By Granville County Policy:
  • Mid-term Exam - 20% of Mid-term grade

  • Final Exam - 25% of Semester grade

  • Mid-term and Final exams may include work on a final project, presentation of the student's portfolio, and demonstration of specific skills taught during the class.

It's not difficult to get a 'C' in this class.
An 'A' requires some serious effort!



 Learning, Work, and Safety Skills 

Students will learn valuable concepts and skills in this class if they are willing to:
  • Listen quietly to presentations and instructions

  • Participate appropriately in class discussions
    (one at a time, on topic, polite to teachers and fellow students)

  • Focus on artwork and assignments and work diligently throughout project time

  • Follow instructions and all classroom and safety policies

  • Be on time to class and turn in makeup work for all absences

 Portfolio 

Your portfolio is a folder of the work you have completed in Art class. Portfolios are valuable for reflection and analysis of your progress. They are a standard tool for artists in any field.
